Ian Goldschmidt - Chair

Ian has been a Rainbow committee member for the past 5 years. He is also the Chair of the Mt Robert Foundation across the lake. Ian and Sarah grew up skiing at Club ski fields and are passionate about the club field model and see it’s important to ensure a sustainable operational model at Rainbow for future generations to enjoy.

Rhys Palmer - Secretary

Rhys has been on the Rainbow Committee for the last 5 years. Rhys loves exploring the untracked quiet backcountry terrain either side of the Rainbow Ski area and using his civil engineer skills to ensure the access road is safe, resilient and fit for purpose. Rhys is excited to be part of the sustainable club focussed model for 2026 and beyond.

Brent Goddard - Treasurer

Brent has been on the Rainbow Committee for 4 years and is passionate about the outdoors. He brings over 20 years of business management experience and currently serves as Treasurer of the Nelson Mountain Bike Club.

Mel Barker - Committee

Mel has a strong knowledge of working within the non-profit organisations. She has a passion for working with businesses in the community, is outcome-focused and loves being part of the Rainbow Ski community.

Britta Reid - Committee

Originally from Germany, Britta grew up skiing in the European Alps but developed a profound love for the distinct culture and unique feel of New Zealand's club fields. Her passion lies in the long-term sustainability of these fields, so that future generations can continue to access and enjoy the benefits of New Zealand's alpine environment. Britta is dedicated to building a vibrant and enduring community around Rainbow.

Sub-Committee

Jo Rainey

Jo and Jude have been involved with Rainbow Sports Club since formation in 2004. Managed 5 ski gear sales, T-bar electrification project, purchased and installed 300kva and 100kva gensets. Chair 2014-2018. Keen Workparty Warrior, looking after lifts, gensets, groomers, diesel storage and vehicles, and helping to recruit our local Rainbow crew. Now semi-retired, Jo is a school bus driver in Nelson city, and looking forward to helping his grandies on Rainbow.

Nic Roland

Nic Roland owns the Playhouse Theatre, has three ski mad boys and loves being in the mountains. Rainbow Ski field has been his happy place for more than 20 years. You can usually find him hiking out to find powder or ripping up the slushy groomers. He taught Snowboarding at the mountain in his youth and even met his wife there.
